Frequently Asked Questions

What can I bring when receiving chemo?

You are welcome to bring snacks and drinks into the infusion room. Please avoid bringing foods with strong scents. You may also bring music with head phones into the chemo room.

Please do NOT wear any strong scents such as perfumes or after-shave. Strong smells can cause nausea in some people receiving chemotherapy.

Please silence your cell phone while in the chemo room and use a quiet voice while talking in the chemo room.

Do I need to bring someone with me when I get chemotherapy?

Arrange for a friend or relative to drive you to and from the clinic on the day of your first treatment. Once you know how well you tolerate the treatment, you can decide whether it is necessary to continue to have a driver.

Can I take over-the-counter medications?

Ask your doctor or nurse before using aspirin, ibuprofen, or naproxen. These medications may affect your platelets, which are important for blood clotting.

Who should I contact for refills?

Because of information we need from the pharmacy, it is always faster to call your pharmacy to request a prescription refill, even if you have no refills remaining. Please allow 48 hours for prescription refills.
